In WHich There Are Whales And Spring Time

Greetings!

I've been noteable absent from blogging for two reasons.
One. I am lazy and easily distracted.
And Two. I have been reather increadably sick.

Nothing too startling. Just rottenly sick.
I don't get sick often, usually only on big sickness a year. And one really nasty sickness every few years. Last year was a vicious chest-infection that had me absent from work without pay for two weeks. More or less bedridden. Fever, asthma (which I'd never had before), shakes, chills, the whole shabang. Nasty stuff really. Luckily I was living with Glenn's parents at the time so I could afford to be off work without pay.
It was the sickest I've been in my life, without exaggeration.

This last week was not nearly as bad.
Just one day bedridden.
I've been off for the last two weeks or so with nausea and stomach aches. My stomach whale was making a good home for itself.
What finally brought me down was a truly brutal head cold. What a mess. It took me a few days of recover.
Ended up throwing up on the bus coming home from work the following day.
Mortifyingly embarrassing.

I'm feeling more human and healthy now. Just the occasional upset tummy and I'm still knocking out the build up of fun mucus from my system (Fun!). But really feeling much better.

What is awesome is SPRING IS HERE!
The Winter, though not as vicious as last year, was none the less cold and dreary. Add to that the last Summer was lack luster a best, having Spring show up like a much awaited punch to the face has been wonderful!
It's all been a nice combination for Spring thunder storms, which I adore! And clear blue sunny days. Still a bit chilly, but such a long awaited sight that the cold can't really deduct from it!

Friday was the peaks of the storms so far. With howling winds, sheet rain and hail, with a loving fistful of thunder and lightening! We were grocery shopping when the best of it hit. It sounded like someone had dropped something quite large on the roof of the Countdown supermarket we were shopping at. Very exciting! And it cleared just enough for us to lead everything into the car and get home relatively dry too!

As you might tell my the over-use of '!', I'm very excited about the recent weather!

As for today, like yesterday, it was stunningly clear blue weather. Better in some ways even.
I woke up at 7am to my alarm to plug my iPod Touch Ozmos in to charge for the target 5 hours before work. Then prompltly fell asleep after turning my computer on and plugging Oz in. Slept till 10am. Nice.
Got up and got ready for work with HEAPS of time to spare. And was infected with the blue sky and sun and cleaned my room. I only clean in good weather, so my room gets VERY messy over Autumn and Winter. I cleaned The Corner where things have been piling up for months, sorting out all my paperwork and throwing heaps out too. So I feel very good. I have a clean patch of floor now to go with the other growing clear patches of floor. A few more free sunny warm days and my room will be publicly acceptable! Eeegats! Gawd'zuuks!
On top of that. Last night I was contemplateing re organising my room to look somewhat as it did whenh I was living with my parents. And I think I will. Swap my desk and bed positions somewhat. Yes. I think I will.

What else to mention?
Glenn bought my some lip blam at my request on Friday after dropping me off at work (so I wouldn't barf on the bus again), and he got me a stick of lip balm (I usually get little pots) and it was strawberry flavour (I get vanilla) and WOW! It tastes like strawberry Nerds xDDD
Not what I would have picked but I love it!!!

I played some Wizard Rock at work a few weeks ago actually xD
It was great!
I was in charge of the store all day (on my own) for the first time and pluggest Ozmos in with a playlist I made for work. Turned out I wasn't allowed to plug him in, but not because of the content but because it was harder for the store manager to monitor. So I'll be making a Wrock included CD of music for work soon. I'll post the contents of said CD and thew reaction here!

Throwing-up on the bus, sickness, Spring weather, Wrock ar work and lip balm...what else?

OH RIGHT!
I get a small Design Commission Job!
The Upper Hutt City Library, my local library and one that I worked in during my final year of High School has asked my to make a Powere Point presentation for an award they're finalists for for inivations!!
I got the call on Tuesday and was going to go in for the meeting the next day be ended up being so sick I could bearly stay vertical let along leave the house, so reschedualed for Thursday.
Meeting went well.
I'm super nervious though!
I haven't touched Power Point for years, so over the next week I'll be going over the content for the award and presention and getting up to scratch with PP. Might also contact my 7th form computer teacher at my High School and see if she can up-date me faster. She was lovely and we got on well.
I also have to decide what to quote them for the project. I have no idea!!!
Research!

I think thats it, I'll add anything interesting new blog if I think about it.

Right now I'm reading a HP Fanfic called Child of Four by sarini in fanfiction.net and it's amazing! Love it!
I am still part was through the fourth book of Saving Connor but just needed a break.
CoF is just brilliant. It has a fun twist on early events in HP and really has some fun plot ideas and is very ingenious was of marrying the changes with the existing plot perfectly. Easily one of my fave fanfiction I've read, I totally recommend it anyone who doesn't mind Harry/Draco and a bit of tame boy smut.

Ah well.
Night Internet (or really Shannon and anyone else who reads)
Honestly post, I'd love to hear from anyone who reads.
I do right this for myself to some degree, but I love to hear from anyone who follows.

Back to reading CoF!

In Which There Is A 7.1 Magnitude Earth Quake

At 4.35am this morning Christchurch was hit my at 7.1 magnitude earthquake centred 30km off the coast.

No loose of life currently. Two critically injured including an elderly man who suffered a heart attck.

Serious structuaral damage throughout Christchurch and surrounding areas.
The shock was felt throughout the South Island and also in Wellington where I felt it myself.

Signifigant after shocks are still being felt 7.5 hours after the main quake.

Damages are looking to cost up into the Billions for all hit areas.
New Zealand Govenment has many action plans in place for severe earthquakes.
EQC is one of these.
Any New Zealands resident with Fire cover house insurance is automatically covered my the Government's EQC Insurance. Maximum $100,000 toward house repairs as well as $20,00 for contents.  The rest should be covered then by your insurance company.
http://www.eqc.govt.nz/insurance.aspx

It's sunny and clear weather today. It's hard to believe somewhat what has happened.

New Zealanders are prapared for the fact they may well face a quake like this in their life time. The Government got a great lengths to prapare people in New Zealand with add campagnes for survival kits and supplies. There have safe guards set up and out army is trained in Civil Defense in the case of such a desaster.
I have 3 days worth of water in cupboards for myself and housemates, as well as canned food etc. Batteries for my radio to keep in touch with Civil Defense updates.
We are prapared, but it is still a shock. A lot is happening right now.

Got the TV going. TV One is running coverage.
I'll let you know how things progress.

In Which I Celebrate 4 Months of Harry Potter & Wizard Rock

Or by the longer title I felt was too long for a title:
'In Which I Celebrate and Reminisce about 4 Months of Wizard Rock and Harry Potter'

I checked my Firefox Internet History, and confirmed, It have been almost exactly 4 months since I came across The Whomping Willow's 'In Which Draco and Harry Secretly Want To Make Out' while looking for fanfictions.

I actually remember it now.
About a month prior (or so) I was bored and by spur of the moment ideaing ended up reading Harry Potter fanfictions. Now I have for some while been a secret fan of Harry and Draco together, ever if just as friends. In fact, I always sort of thought it would be awesome if they had a secret friendship behind all the rivalry. Possibly not an original thought, but it was mine and it was true.
Anyway, so I'd been reading some for a while, but never really found anything terrible close to what I imagined and wanted to read. So one day I googled:
"harry draco friends secretly"

And I got : http://realwizardrock.com/more-bands/the-whomping-willows/house-of-awesome/draco-and-harry-secretly-want-to-make-out/
and then http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7B19i_72Now

And it began.

Remembering all this was spurred on by a sudden and unexpected, by myself and everyone, bout of wild skipping down the street to 'Hey Whompy' by The Remus Lupins. It was freezing cold, the wind was sharp and biting at my face, I was knackered and destroyed by work and post-sickness...and song came on. At the first chorus my feet leapt without my agreement and I skipped. And I skipped the length of the block through the rain and wind, stopping only to cross the road safely.
It was...amazing. Magic.

I really owe my life and happiness to Harry Potter and Wizard Rock.
I was unemployed for 6 months after being made redundant from a job I was overqualified and over intelligent for. 5 months into unemployment I found Harry Potter again.
I was fighting myself. I hated myself. I felt stupid, and so useless that a shit job that I was better than didn't want me. That no job wanted me. I would apply and apply with not so much as a "No thanks". And worst than that possible. I was left with disgusting amounts of spare time to eat away at myself. To realise I had no loves, no passion, no interests of any kind.
Sure, I liked things. Everyone likes things. But I didn't find anything amazing. Nothing got my blood pumping and drove me to do things or feel things.
I felt empty and dead. I hardly felt like anyone. A no one.

And it was frightening. Terrifying.
To realise you didn't like yourself. At all.

And then I found something.
I found wings.
It just started out as reading fanfictions. Than re-reading the book.
I pulled out my Slytherin necklace I got from Hot Topic while in America a couple of years before, along with the Slytherin hoodie that I got along with it.
I found The Whomping Willows. I found Ministry of Magic. I found Parselmouths, Catchlove, The Remus Lupins, Draco and the Malfoys, Harry and the Potters.
I found Wizard Rock.
I found people so passionate about Harry Potter the wrote music about him and his world. Songs. Thousands of them!

And I wanted that. I wanted that love, that passion, that immersion and joy, and happiness, and community and friendship.
And I had it. It was mine.
A passion and love that I could be a part of.

It may sound sappy and lame. But it's true.
To got from hating yourself and who you are, to being being so filled with joy and love over something, it is the most incredible leap for air you could ever make in your life.

It may just be 4 months. But I couldn't have gotten here without those 4 months.
I wish I could have found this world I live in now years ago. But there is no point in wishing for the past to be changed. Nothing ever comes from whatif's and ifonly's.
Regret is for fools. Take the good and be happy and joyful for it. Take the bad and find the good side effect from it.
I have a lot of Harry Potter love to make up for.

This is why getting to LeakyCon 2011 is such an important, almost vital thing for me.
It is why I am prepared to put every spare dollar of mine into getting there and making it the greatest time of my life.
I started living 4 months ago. I plan to keep on living for the rest of my life.

53. Ever walked into a wall?
I don't believe so. Though I walk into door frames constantly.

54. Do looks matter?

Yes. But it depends how you mean. looks can tell you a lot about a person. You can spot nerds/geeks etc, did you know that? And bitchy girls are very easy to pick out, thus avoid. Also, relationship wise, yes. It may make me somewhat shallow, and it's not the only factor that is important. But they must be physically appealing. On a friendship / people level. Yes, it shows a person cares about themselves and understands social standards.

62. Do you sleep with the TV on?
I CAN sleep with the TV on. Last time I did was when I have a panic attack at 4am in the morning and didn't want to wake Glenn up, but was too shaken to go back to sleep. So I took my blacket into the lounge and turned on the Travel and Living Channel.

I do now. It took work, and there could be more to make me like it more. But yes. I do like my life right now. Thanks to Harry Potter.

66. How often do you talk on the phone?
Only when I need to. I don't like talking on the phone.

67. What is your favorite animal?
Don't know I have one. Right now I like owls.

68. What was the most recent thing you bought?
Day Tripper Bus Pass. But materialisticly: Two bow headbands and before that my red, tarten coat. Or I suppose my sisters birthday present of 'Valentines Day' on DVD and some cute earrings.

69. Do you have good vision?
It's pretty good. I have glasses for reading, and they sharpen everything else up too. But I can see mostly fine without them.

70. Can you hula hoop?
I used to be great at hula hooping, I haven't for years though. I don't think I'm as good anymore. I should get back into practice!

Depends what they cheated at and if they are remorseful.

72. Do you have a job?
A part-time job at a kids clothing store called Kids Zone.

73. Can you handle the truth?
Given enough time. Yes.

74. What are you wearing?
My sisters track-pants which are too short for me, but because mine are on the line outside. Also a 'Dead Animals' t-shirt and golden yellow hoodie. Oh and some slippers and socks. It's cold.

75. Have you ever crawled through a window?
I'm sure at some point I have.

That took longer than expected.
Fun though.
Did you learn something interesting and new about me. Maybe about yourself as you no doubt answered the question yourself in your head as you read through them.

My nose started bleeding half way through that which made typing interesting to say the least.

In Which I Have A Room For Leaky!

Good news Internet!
I have got a room for Leaky sorted out!
Finally!

For the last few weeks I've been looking for a group to room with at LeakyCon 2011, not to much avail. Until 3 days ago!

A while back WrockRevolution (on Twitter) informed me a friend of hers was possibly looking for a 4th member of their Leaky Room. It went back and forth for a bit. People joined, then backed out, until finally on the 27th I got a message from Arianya on Twitter saying they had two spots open, and if I'd like to room with them.
Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallelujah!

So the room is all booked and ready to go!

We're staying at the Royal Pacific, which I've not stayed at before.
On my one other trip to Orlando we stayed a couple nights at Portofino.
As well as being the cheaper option, it has the added bonus of being so damn close to LeakyCon itself. Score!

So far it's just myself, Arianya and AbbeyMagic.
And both girls sound awesome, so I'm really looking forward to it!

It's been such a surprising relief to have the room sorted now. It was one of the big things that i was eager to sort out sooner rather then later. it's now allowed me ro start planning other trips, flight dates and things like that which I couldn't really until I knew where and when I was staying.

The rooms booked for the 12-18th July 2011, which works out perfectly for me, as I wanted to have the space to breath around Leaky and many see Orlando a tiny bit.

It really got me in the mood for planning actually. I've started my inventory list for what I need to bring and get a hold of for the trip. And of course, I've now been able to update my budget with some cement prices for accommodation during Leaky.
Price is good, $337.50 US all up for all the nights. Much better that I had hoped, and it now frees up a bit more $$ for other things. Which is very nice indeed. Maybe I'll buy all 4 sets of Hogwarts Robes now **day dreams**

So yeah, big load off my back, and it's made me, if at all possible, even MORE excited and amped for LeakyCon 2011!!

Arianya and I have been getting to know one another via Skype, which I downloaded for the first time the other day for just that purpose.
I feel I'm failing my vow to avoid all forms of popular (and any really) Social Networking. I now have Twitter, Facebook, Skype, Tumblr, Blogspot and (to a nerdier degree) Nerdfighter.

Arianya and I have been planning a bit on Skype, and we have agreed we should catch a bus or whatever out to find a super market and get provision to lessen the food costs, and because I want to buy heaps of naughty American foods. I fully plan to have  Lucky Charms every day for breakfast. Foor of champions. Well except maybe on day when we plan to have breakfast at Hogsmeade <3
Also, we're going to do a  food swap. I'm bringing a few New Zealand snacks and things to share, and she's going to bring me some liquoric and stroopwafels!!!

As of yet, I haven't run into Abbey on Skype, but it is just a matter of time.

Think that's all there is to mention. If not I'll put it in new blog or something.
The weeks been reasonable mild. Hours at work will be dropping now that one of the girls is back from leave. Oh well.
Haven't heard from Dick Smith about the job I interviews for yet.
This week I've been doing week shift, which is a change. Much quieter than Thursday through Sunday. And I've been working with Angelique who I don't generally see much.

I think I'll leave it there for now.
Have a lovely Sleep / Wake / Day / Night!!!

Oh, one more thing to mention!
I invented Magic Hot Chocolate this week.
Not TOTALLY original, but a first for me, and straight out of my own head.
I hate the taste of hot water. It the reason I can't drink hot tea. odd yes, but true.
So, the other night when I was pining for pudding, I decide to try boiling the milk on the stove instead of adding hot water to my hot chocolate.
The really trick though, was that I added some cinnamon and all spice when boiling the milk.
I'm not a good cook, but a damn decent baker.
It was AMAZING! Thick, and creamy and hot all the way down on a cold winters night.
There's a reason I call it Magic Hot Chocolate.

Anyway, going this time.
Until next tiem Internet!

P.S. No, I didn't spell check this one either. I hope you enjoyed your grammatical and spelling mistakes <3
